The government remains committed to the realization of the main foreign policy goal - full membership in the European Union, since it is a generally accepted priority in Montenegro, and expressed the belief that all political subjects will contribute maximally to the successful completion of European integration.
This was said by Defense Minister Dragan Krapović during a meeting with the newly appointed Ambassador of the European Union to Montenegro, Johan Satler.
"In support of the commitment of all social structures to the integration process, Minister Krapović cited the positive IBAR that Montenegro received in June, which represents not only a strong signal that the enlargement process is still current, but additionally strengthens Montenegro's position as a leader in the EU integration process. He expressed the expectation that the enlargement process will be high on the agenda of the new European administration, because the European future is a guarantee of peace and stability in the Western Balkans," the Ministry of Defense said in a statement.
He also pointed to the importance of the presence of the European Union in the region in the context of preserving regional security.
Krapović reminded that Montenegro has harmonized its foreign policy with the foreign and security policy of the Union, as well as that it will continue to contribute to missions and operations under the auspices of the EU.
