The Europe Now Movement (PES) announced that the President of the State, Jakov Milatović, who, "in addition to being the President of Montenegro, also wants to be the Prime Minister, the Assembly and the Mayor of Podgorica", is preparing the ground to continue cooperation with the constituents of the "anti-government bloc" and after local elections.
They said that Milatović was "inventing" that PES leader Milojko Spajić was proposing cooperation with the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS).
"The former president of all citizens no longer hides the cooperation that he started in the city parliament of Podgorica, and by constantly sabotaging the parliamentary majority, justifying that he is protecting the Constitution," PES said.
They said that Milatović, while accusing Spajić of "arranging something" with the then president of the country Milo Đukanović at the end of 2021, is now cooperating with the man who at that very time was "secretly arranging a minority government with Đukanović, including his and Spajić's dismissal".
"It is clear that Milatović, who with the DPS overthrew the majority in Podgorica, is now preparing the public for continued cooperation with untruths. While he worries about high prices, he is acting in a coalition with Abazović, whose government, according to Eurostat data, had the highest increase in inflation While inventing that Spajić was proposing cooperation with DPS, Milatović is making a majority in Podgorica with that party," states PES.
They said that Milatović, while advocating for transparency, avoids commenting on the granting of a passport to Naser Ramaj by the previous government. While he advocates for the rationality of expenses, they add, at the same time he demands "additional and huge funds" for the work of his cabinet, "about which the public will be informed".
"While he advocated for the inclusiveness of the Government with a two-thirds majority, including the coalition For the Future of Montenegro and the Bosniak Party, now, united with the anti-government coalition, he criticizes that concept," PES writes.
Milatović also, as they said, while advocating for an increase in wages, restores the laws that make it possible.
"While in public he distances himself from nepotism, in the background he is running for his own aunt on the board list," they said.
They also point out that, while the Government receives recognition for its results from the European Commission, Milatović underestimates the European Union by claiming that it is not well informed about the state of affairs in the country.
"While he presents himself as a fighter against the DPS, at the same time he advocates that the joint cadres of Đukanović and Abazović remain in high positions in the system," states PES.
They called on Milatović to document the content and provide evidence of the alleged conversation between Spajić and former chief of staff Đukanović, as well as to transparently state the source.
"Otherwise, it will be clear to the citizens that this story is as credible as Milatović's promise that he will be the president of all citizens and that advisers will be chosen transparently through a public competition," the announcement concludes.
