The government and UNDP have built a strong partnership and successfully cooperate in numerous areas, with the aim of democratization and further development of Montenegrin society, it was assessed at the meeting of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Ervin Ibrahimović and the Assistant Secretary General of the United Nations and the Director of the UNDP Regional Office for Europe and Central Asia Ivan Živković.
"The UNDP's support for the development and implementation of reform programs and initiatives is compatible with our European aspirations and has contributed to the successful realization of Montenegro's foreign policy priorities," said Ibrahimović, as announced by the MFA.
He said that exceptional cooperation is accompanied by dynamic political dialogue and meetings at the highest level. "I am glad that we will have the opportunity to confirm this during the upcoming GSUN General Debate."
Ibrahimović expressed his belief that the successful cooperation will continue in the coming period, contributing to the achievement of European standards and sustainable development goals, primarily in the areas of democratic governance, green growth, climate change and social inclusion.
Živković said that UNDP and MFA have a continuous and solid partnership in the field of promoting gender equality and strengthening the capacity of the Ministry, which "laid the foundation for deepening cooperation, especially when it comes to feminist diplomacy."
"Cooperation between UNDP in Montenegro and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is best reflected through a multi-year initiative such as the widely known Summer School of Young Diplomats "Gavro Vuković", which year after year pushes the boundaries and shows a common commitment to sustainable development and peace". Živković pointed out.
The interlocutors also exchanged opinions on the important role of the UN system in overcoming current crises, judging that efficient management of resources and the use of development potentials are the best way to provide an effective response to numerous challenges on a national, regional, and global level.
