The Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) demanded the resignation of the Minister of Agriculture, Vladimir Joković, and the criminal responsibility of all those responsible in this chain of irresponsibility, due to cases of Q fever infection.
"Given that Q fever has been spreading throughout Montenegro for months, that the Government and the competent ministry were on top of the situation even though they were warned that this disease was out of control and that it would be transmitted to people, after the confirmation of the infection in two people, we request the resignation Minister of Agriculture Vladimir Joković, and the criminal responsibility of all those responsible in this chain of irresponsibility," DPS said.
They said that it is scandalous that the existence of kyu fever was only reported to the Institute for Public Health at the end of July, although according to the authorities, it has been known since the beginning of June, when the first tests were performed.
"It is scandalous that Montenegro received money from the EU to build a system for the destruction of dead animals according to European standards, which has not been built so far, but the carcasses of diseased cattle are buried without a plan, then dug up and blown up, which further worsens the epidemic situation. It is scandalous that the euthanized cows are kept "somewhere" since there is no place where their corpses could be safely disposed of. It is scandalous that the public is underestimated in this way and is told that only nine cows are currently infected, that is, that the disease has been confirmed in them by a PCR test, and that actually several hundred cows show signs of illness...", the announcement reads.
"We call on the Prime Minister to emerge from his pre-election campaign, to address the public and announce all the relevant data related to the uncontrolled spread of Q fever, including the consequences that will be borne by those who endangered people's health and decimated the livestock of Montenegro", it concludes.
