Regional cooperation contributes to the acceleration of the process of European integration, it was assessed at the meeting of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ervin Ibrahimović, with the Minister of European Affairs of North Macedonia, Orhan Murtezani.
"As countries that share European and Euro-Atlantic values, Montenegro and North Macedonia cooperate closely on the bilateral level and nurture political dialogue at a high level," the interlocutors at the meeting in Podgorica assessed.
As announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), the ministers agreed that Montenegro's progress on the European path, through obtaining a positive IBAR, is good news for all candidate countries and represents an incentive for even closer regional cooperation.
"Ibrahimović and Murtezani said that the intensive contacts on the bilateral level and within the framework of numerous regional initiatives are a clear confirmation of friendly relations and mutual commitment to the improvement of overall interstate relations," the statement said.
It is stated that, with reference to common foreign policy priorities, the interlocutors emphasized the importance of speeding up the process of joining the European Union and stated that there is room for more frequent communication in the field of exchanging knowledge and experiences related to the negotiation process itself.
"In this regard, they pointed out the importance of implementing priority regional agendas that contribute to the acceleration of European integration," the statement added.
