After the elections on September 29, Podgorica will get a responsible and efficient city administration, which does not push problems under the carpet and which has a vision for the development of the city, said Luka Rakčević, candidate of the list "Jakov Milatović - For a better Podgorica!" for the mayor of the capital.
Last night, that list held a rally in front of the "Radosav Ljumović" National Library in the center of Podgorica, and Rakčević said on that occasion, as reported, that their team "stands with pride in front of the monument of the first mayor of Podgorica, Duke Marko Miljanov, and in front of the beautiful building, the building of the capital city, which was designed by our famous architect Veliša Popović", because "together with the citizens, they saved the symbols of Podgorica from devastation".
"We raised the voice that 35 square meters of concrete, residential and commercial spaces were being built in Njegošev Park, in the heart of Podgorica, when DPS was at the height of its power. Today we have a beautiful park that we will continue to develop, with a beautiful promenade along Morača all the way to Duklja and on the other side to Mala Gorica, i.e., Lješkopoljska Gorica. Also, in 2018 and 2019, we fought for our Gorica, when harmful planning documents were passed that provided for a whole series of multi-story buildings on the top of Gorica, which were supposed to overhang the Partizan monument fighter and to destroy what Gorica was decades ago. Today in Gorica we have 115 hectares of protected green area which is maintained by our great Jasna Gajević from the Agency for Protected Areas "We decided to build 150 square meters of concrete and today we have incredible conceptual solutions for that space, a museum of contemporary art, a museum of natural history and a house of architecture," said Rakčević.
He said that all those years "while we were fighting, our political competitors stayed in the headquarters of the DPS and kept silent about all this".
"They never said a single word, they were never with us at a single protest, and with that they showed how much they really love this city, because if they loved it, they would have been with us, they would have raised their voices and today they would be walking through this city with raised foreheads. around town and watched the results of that fight," said Rakčević.
As it was reported, he promised all the citizens of Podgorica at the meeting that in the first hundred days after the formation of their government, the project of building the east stand of the Stadium under Gorica would begin, so that the Football Club Budućnost, as he said, "like our sanctuary, which next year celebrates the century of its existence", finally had a completed stadium.
He added that the construction of the eastern tribune would entail the construction of an underground garage with 466 parking spaces, "with a beautiful above-ground square". Rakčević added that an underground garage with 349 parking spaces would be built on the other side of the city center with Božane Vučinić Square.
"With 815 new parking spaces, we would solve the decade-long parking problem in the city center, which creates the essential preconditions for the phased closure of the city center to traffic," emphasized Rakčević.
He also said that during their mandate they will reconstruct Podgoričanka, as a building that for decades "has been in a state of complete ruin, on five thousand square meters in the heart of Podgorica, which the former city administrations tried unsuccessfully to sell on three occasions". He added that they objected to that plan, and that they are now working on the conceptual solution of that building, which will become home to hundreds of "startups", for modern galleries, for book fairs, cultural events, and that the building will have a "beautiful panoramic restaurant at the very top, which will be the decoration of the center of Podgorica".
"There are still ten days left until September 29, until the day when we get a responsible and efficient city administration in Podgorica, which does not push problems under the carpet, which has a vision for the development of this city. Podgorica will be a better place for the lives of all its citizens, and that is only the first stop to a better Montenegro," concluded Rakčević.
Stefan Vukmanović, candidate for councilor and young leader, said at the meeting that Podgorica "does not need sheriffs", who will see the city as private property and who do not care about the problems of the citizens. "Due to his struggle, Luka Rakčević became a symbol of resistance to such a way of running the city. He is a symbol of new ideas, not only for Podgorica, but for the whole of Montenegro, that's why he deserves to be the mayor," said Vukmanović.
"The well-known fighter for justice, Srđan Smatlik, addressed the audience and stated that he immediately recognized in Luka Rakčević the future mayor whom he trusts and that he is sure that Luka will achieve everything from the program," the announcement concludes.
