The legalization of illegal buildings in Podgorica is an issue of utmost importance for the future of the city, said Aleksandar Damjanović, one of the founders of the Forward Movement.
He warned that this issue has been discussed for five years, but concrete steps towards solving this problem are still not being taken.
"From the very beginning, the Naprijed movement was innovative, quick and thorough in developing its program, while other participants in the elections often make promises that they know cannot be fulfilled. We tried to be realistic and firmly stand on the ground with the promises we make. That's why I'm surprised that there is little talk about the topic of legalization, even though we all know how present this problem is in our city. Instead of seriously discussing this issue during the campaign, it seems that most political actors still close their eyes to this problem," he pointed out said Damjanović in the announcement.
He stated that there are tens of thousands of illegal buildings in Podgorica, and that while this is constantly being talked about, there are no concrete actions.
Damjanović said that for the list "Dr. Vuk Kadić – Pokret Naprijed – Za Podgorica i familia" urgent and free legalization will be a key condition for the post-election coalition in the city.
"Movement Naprijed believes that the process of legalization must be carried out as soon as possible, and not be delayed for the next few years. It must be a free process. The cadastre must first record all illegal objects and clearly recognize the situation on the ground, which is currently not case. Because of illegal buildings, the city and the state have lost tens of millions of euros through unpaid taxes and duties. This issue is, without a doubt, one of the main reasons for stagnation in certain segments of development," said Damjanović.
He said that he believes that the state has shown itself to be an unscrupulous owner of its own property, because, he added, it did not act as a construction inspector, allowing the construction of illegal buildings.
"Whether it had anything to do with collecting votes for certain parties in the past, I don't want to speculate, but it is clear that the state has failed," said Damjanović.
He also said that the Forward Movement has a clear vision and will to finally resolve this issue.
"Legalization must be completed quickly and efficiently, and that story should be labeled 'ad acta'. There is no more waiting for imaginary legalization - we are ready to roll up our sleeves and solve the problem for the benefit of all citizens," Damjanović concluded and called on everyone to go to the polls on September 29 and vote for the list "Dr. Vuk Kadić – Forward Movement – For Podgorica and Family" in order to finally end the legalization process.
