We will position Podgorica as a leader in sustainable waste management and environmental protection, but also make it a recognized tourist center, my conscience made me join the European Union, so that Podgorica would be an example city, said the candidate for councilor on the "European Union - Boris Mugoša (SDP, SD, LP and citizens) - Podgorica for example", Danijela Popović.
"As someone who is personally and professionally satisfied with my achievements, I never saw myself in politics. However, due to the catastrophic state of our Podgorica, my conscience forced me to get involved and make my contribution. For this reason, I am making myself available to the European Union, as Podgorica would be an exemplary city", said Popović.
She presented the project of the European Union "Culture of clean air".
"The "Culture of clean air" project would mean that on weekends Independence Square would be a zone without motor vehicles, which means that citizens would be given the opportunity to enjoy clean air, as well as cultural content. Various workshops, street concerts, mini-performances, as well as small exhibitions. In this regard, I am happy with the idea of planting 4000 trees on the hills in and around Podgorica, as well as on Ćemovsko polje improvement of the ecological structure of Podgorica, but also long-term improvement of air quality and preservation of the natural landscape", said Popović.
According to her, a construction ban will be introduced on all remaining untouched areas of the Podgorica hills for the next 30 years.
"In this way, we will preserve them as green zones and natural resources for future generations and give nature a chance to recover. Due to the accelerated urbanization of Podgorica, the green coefficient will become an integral part of the planning documentation for obtaining a building permit. This means that the contractors will have to construction of buildings, regardless of whether they are residential, commercial or other buildings, depending on the square footage, fulfill the necessary green quota for the plot", explained Popović.
We are witnesses, he notes, that Podgorica is covered with garbage.
"Therefore, the most important project of all is the establishment of a large recycling plant in the area of the landfill. This will be one of the key steps in sustainable waste management. This project, in addition to significantly reducing the amount of waste in the capital, will contribute to economic development through the creation of new jobs and support for the green economy. Through this system, Podgorica will position itself as a leader in sustainable waste management and environmental protection," said Popović.
Popović says that the new city administration, whose backbone will be the European Union, will also work dedicatedly on the branding of Podgorica, transforming its image, so that Podgorica is not only recognized as a transit center, but also as a tourist center.
"The city will position itself as a destination that offers a fulfilling, versatile and rich multi-day stay for visitors with a wide variety of interests. Versatile and rich cultural content, as well as numerous entertainment events, improving the tourist infrastructure, will make Podgorica an attractive destination that attracts domestic and foreign guests Popović concluded.
