"Let's not allow an organized criminal group from Šavnička Street to dominate Pljevlja," said independent councilor Saša Ječmenica.

The session of the Municipal Assembly of Pljevlja was postponed today at the request of the councilors of the New Serbian Democracy, one of the members of the ruling coalition.

After asking councilor questions, Nova councilor Marko Potparić asked for a ten-minute break due to, as he explained, consultations within the ruling coalition on items on the agenda of the local parliament.

After the break, no councilors from the ruling majority appeared in the assembly hall, except for the president of the Assembly, Jovana Tošić (Democrats) and Marko Potparić (Nova), who explained the reasons why they asked for the postponement of the session.

"On the agenda of the local parliament are burning points such as the issue of water prices and the equalization of the parking zone. Thus, due to consultations within the parliamentary majority, which needs additional time to consult regarding these very difficult and delicate decisions that we need to make at this assembly, we are asking for additional time for consultations. I think that the assembly will certainly be held in the coming period, in which we will agree on the collegium", said Potparić.

He said that the opposition councilors are expressing untruths and their wishes.

DPS member Marko Tošić said that "to say the least, what happened today at the session of the Municipal Assembly of Pljevlja is frivolous".

"You convened the collegium and informed us that the session of the Council of Ministers will be held on October 6. After that, two days later, you convened a new collegium and informed us that it would be held today. Members of the DPS and the entire opposition came to this assembly, and today we have a situation where we do not have a quorum. It is frivolous to say the least. Why didn't you or one of the councilors of the ruling majority clearly state the reason for not holding today's session. In Pljevlja, it has been rumored for a long time that the reason for not holding today's session is the overcomposition of forces within the municipal committee of the New Serbian Democracy and in part of the parliamentary majority. I don't see why it is disputed that one of you gave up and told the citizens. It is obvious that the intention is for the man who destroyed the Coal Mine or someone at his behest to come here and depose the current President of the Municipality and for him to dominate the local finances, because it is obvious that the main prey for that man is the budget of the Municipality of Pljevlja of 30 million euros. Today, there is more money in the municipality's account than there is in the accounts of the Coal Mine and Elektroprivreda Crne Gore, and this is the prey that the parliamentary majority, namely Mr. (Milan) Lekić, is chasing with the intention of robbing those funds that are in the account of the Municipality of Pljevlja, in the same way on which they destroyed the Coal Mine. It would be fairest if you stood up today and told us the real reason for not holding today's session," said Tošić.

Until recently, DPS councilor Saša Ječmenica, who moved to Duško Marković's Party of European Progress and now acts as an independent councilor, said that the behavior of the ruling majority today speaks volumes about the seriousness in performing public functions.

"It is clear that the legal status of the President of the Municipality is at stake and that the stories circulating in Pljevlja about mutual friction within the New Serbian Democracy have reached their peak. I call on the citizens to prevent this kind of behavior by the Šavnik organized criminal group, which has now come across a closed door in the coal mine and their only goal is to get hold of the municipal finances. I think that President Vraneš takes care of these financial resources partly because of the incompetence of his administration, and partly because of his character, so let's not allow an organized criminal group from Šavnička Street to dominate Pljevlja. It is clear that the cell at DOO Čistoća has worked, and we will inform you about it in the coming days," Ječmenica said.

DPS councilor Haris Alavać asked if there will be changes and additions to the agenda at the next session or if this is just an alleged soul-searching about the prices of water and parking.
