The European Union, from the position of the new city administration in Podgorica, will take concrete and strong steps to combat violence, especially violence against women and children, because our goal is Podgorica as a city without violence and a place for a comfortable and safe life for all its people, announced is Matija Todorović, a candidate for councilor on the list "European Alliance of Boris Mugoš (SDP SD, LP and Citizens) Podgorica for example".
"We will provide a free social service intended for victims of domestic violence, which will include psycho-social support and empowering victims to continue their independent lives in a safe environment. We will also initiate changes to the applicable legal solutions with the competent state authorities in the part that once a report for violence has been filed, it cannot be withdrawn. , but that the competent authorities are obliged to prosecute the perpetrator of violence ex officio," said Todorivić.
He announced that the provision of preventive and informative programs and continuous media campaigns will be strengthened, with a special emphasis on potential victims of violence living in suburban settlements and rural areas of Podgorica, with an increase in the number of specialized services for help, support and care for victims; opening easily accessible rape crisis centers and centers for victims of sexual violence.
"Also, as part of this program, in cooperation with health institutions, we will establish a center for psychological counseling, which will be financed by the Capital City. This center will provide free services to citizens, and they will be provided with access to professional psychological support and counseling regardless of on financial possibilities. These are just some of the comprehensive measures through which we, as a local administration, will contribute to putting an end to femicide, for which our city has, unfortunately, become recognized," concluded Todorović.
