The President of the Assembly Andrija Mandić met today with the Ambassador of Italy Andrea Marcela, and the two officials agreed that Italy is one of the most important partners of our country
During the meeting, Mandić said that his official visit to Italy will be organized in the coming period, at the invitation of the President of the Italian Parliament, Lorenzo Fontana.
"During the meeting, the president pointed out that the relations between Montenegro and the Republic of Italy are very good, but that there is always room for further improvement. The interlocutors agreed that Italy is one of the most important partners of our country," announced the head of parliament's office.
Mandić emphasized that organized crime and corruption are the biggest problem that Montenegro is facing today, and added that during his official visit, in addition to the cooperation between the two parliaments, during the meeting with Fontana, "he will pay special attention to the issue of expertise and strong support of the Republic of Italy to our country in the fight against criminal clans and endemic corruption, which is of particular importance for the closure of EU negotiation chapters 23 and 24".
Mandić added that during his official visit, he will also discuss numerous topics related to economic investments in our country.
"He underlined that during the conversation with President Fontana, he will pay special attention to the European integration of our country and the strong support that the Republic of Italy provides us along the way," it concludes.
