The mayor of Vienna, Mihael Ludvig, supported the candidate of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) for the mayor of Podgorica, Nermin Abdić, ahead of the elections on Sunday, the DPS announced.
"Good afternoon, my name is Mihael Ludvig, and I am the governor and mayor of Vienna. We are currently here in the City Hall of Vienna. I am pleased to be able to support Dr. Nermin Abdić in his candidacy for mayor of Podgorica. And why is this important? Because Europe's main municipalities face many common challenges. It is crucial to have responsible leaders who deal with key future issues, including the economy, the labor market and social justice. Equally important are emerging topics such as digitalization and efforts to combat climate change," Ludvig said in a video message.
He stated that parliamentary elections are also being held in Austria on September 29.
"So I understand how demanding the election campaign can be - not only for the candidates but also for the general public. This usually means a lot of movement and discussion. I am convinced that the elections in Podgorica will have a positive outcome, and I wish the Democratic Party of Socialists success. A strong social democratic family is essential for a united Europe, because it is key to shaping a positive future for the people of our continent," said Ludvig.
"With that in mind, I look forward to a fruitful cooperation and wish you the best of friendship and success. Good luck," he concluded.
