Saša Mujović, the candidate for mayor of Podgorica in front of the list of the Movement Europe Now and the Democrats, thanked the citizens who, as he says, recognized their desire for Podgorica to be a "bastion of freedom" and not to allow the return of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) to power.

He said that they hope that this list will give the mayor of Podgorica.

"I think that the result we achieved, about 22 percent of support, will only show how significant it is in the coming days," he added.

He says that "the attacks were really fierce".

"Many want the scalp of whoever is at the top, and getting to the top is difficult, and surviving on it is even more difficult. There was a desire from many parties to discredit the work of the Government, to show our results in a not very positive light, to show that this Government and its constituents do not have enough support among the people. I think they miscalculated a bit and that support remains," Mujović said.

"If democratic principles and achievements are respected on August 30, then there is no doubt which list will provide the candidate for mayor," he said.

The leader of the Democrats, Aleksa Bečić, said that he believes that in Podgorica and Kotor "democratic principles will be respected" and that the new mayors in those two cities will be Saša Mujović and Vladimir Jokić, while DPS will remain in the opposition.

He pointed out that, overall, they achieved an excellent result. As he said, he will have 14 mandates in Podgorica, compared to the previous 12.

Bečić said that the Democratic-PES and "For the future of Podgorica" lists won 27 mandates, and he does not know where the logic is that 19 is greater than 27, referring to the number of mandates they currently have in the local parliament.

He said that they continue strategic cooperation at the state and all levels.

Bečić said that, despite the negative campaign and the attacks that came from all sides, "they not only preserved the mandates in Podgorica, but also made an increase in the number of councilor mandates in the Assembly of the Capital City".

"Tonight, there are no messages even about identity cards... The opposition in the Assembly stayed where it belongs".

He pointed out that the "colleagues from Block 11 who caused the extraordinary elections" currently have barely six councilor mandates.

PES President Milojko Spajić said that the elections were called before the results of the "Europe Now 2" program.

"So many campaigns of lies fall into the water in less than a month as far as earnings are concerned, and in January there will be an increase in pensions," he added.

"Be certain that in the two cities where the elections were held, you will have two mayors, where you will have greater proof of the results of both the Government and the parliamentary majority," Spajić said.

He pointed out that these days the plenum will include the laws that are needed to obtain four chapters on the European road:

"I ask everyone to focus in the Parliament on the vote. In the next 10 days, we have to vote on them in the Parliament, and I ask the opposition not to obstruct, and the president also not to obstruct the signing of those laws. The European path depends on that," Spajić said.

Answering a journalist's question about whether he will negotiate with Jakov Milatović and the URA Civic Movement, he said that the party bodies of the PES and the Democrats will decide on this separately and then agree on a joint position.
