The Municipal Board of the New Serbian Democracy (NSD) Budva welcomed the actions of the Special State Prosecutor's Office (SDT) and Chief Special Prosecutor Vladimir Novović to investigate the legality of the work of the Municipality of Budva and the Communal Enterprise.
The reaction of the Budva NSD came after "Vijesti" announced today that the SDT requested documentation from the Municipality of Budva on how temporary locations were set up this summer.
"NSD Budva believes that any examination of the legality of the work of public companies and officials is not only welcome, but also necessary for increasing transparency and legality in the work of local self-government. We believe that openness and systematic monitoring of the work of public institutions contributes to strengthening citizens' trust in their representatives and institutions, as well as encouraging efficiency and professionalism in work. We also believe that such processes enable the identification and correction of irregularities, which is of essential importance for the development of Budva," they point out in this party.
They remind that the public is a witness "that one of the biggest reasons for disagreements with our colleagues, who stole our councilor mandates and usurped the executive power, is precisely a different view of the way of work, transparency and respect for colleagues and employees in local self-government".
"We believe that the basic task of all of us is to turn the Municipality of Budva and all its institutions into a true service for citizens, and not into a mere party tool. To our great regret, we are witnesses that there is truth in the accusations made, because this year our city, as well as its citizens, economy and tourists, suffered a huge loss due to the illegal actions and poor work of the utility company. We believe that water shortages and a large number of illegal temporary facilities, obviously deliberately organized, have contributed to this situation," NSD Budva points out.
They call on all political actors and participants in public life to put the interests of the city and the tourism industry, on which we all depend, first.
"It is important that we focus on the common good and overcome petty political and private interests, which, unfortunately, became more and more present this summer. It goes without saying that all state bodies, as well as the NGO sector and other actors, not only in the Municipality and the Municipal Enterprise but also at all other levels of government, they should examine the legality of work, suspicious procedures and projects. In this way, we can increase the transparency and improve the quality of services that are financed from the pockets of our citizens and tourists. We welcome the actions of the Special State Prosecutor's Office and the Chief Special Prosecutor Vladimir Novović regarding inactions that have serious consequences for the budget of the Municipality of Budva and its citizens, and about the damage to the reputation of Budva, it is unnecessary to talk about it", conclude NSD Budva.
