Some of the members of the Municipal Election Commission (MEC) in Kotor are continuously violating the mandatory norms of the Law on the Election of Councilors and Members of Parliament, it was announced today by the Municipal Committee of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) Kotor.
"Lawlessness and anarchy are slowly becoming a pattern of functioning and a rule in the work of several MEC members who, for reasons known only to them, risk criminal charges and potential sanctions. Because, the heavy electoral defeat experienced by the outgoing government, with 700 votes less than in June last year, it will in no way be a minor debacle if by illegal work and pressures, while defending serious irregularities, the possibility of citizens exercising their right to vote as required by law is prevented members of the MEC behave in this way - there is no need for them to worship the citizens of Kotor in this way," the announcement states.
DPS Kotor added that "they will not allow a part of the Kotor MEC to obstruct the election process in this way".
"On the contrary. There will not only be repeated elections in Prčanje, but also in Mirac. And after that we will form a government and send the previous one, which has done nothing for Kotor, into the opposition. Every third voter voted for the Democratic Party of Socialists in these elections, not only are we the strongest, but we also have almost 300 more votes than our closest competitors and, accordingly, we have an additional obligation to protect the law and the inalienable constitutional rights of citizens actions encouraged by the outgoing government these days, that they do not participate in lawlessness and that together we all contribute to the completion of the electoral process in Kotor, which will also lead to the announcement of the final results," reads the announcement of DPS Kotor.
