In addition to Dragoslav Šćekić, Slađana Kaluđerović, MP and member of the Presidency of the Socialist People's Party (SNP), and official Miloš Rajković are potential candidates at the congress, "Vijesti" has learned.
According to "Vijesti" information, the new president of the party will be elected at the next year's regular congress, which may be slightly postponed. The last congress of the party was held on July 31, 2021, when Vladimir Joković was elected as the head of the party for the second time, who will therefore not be able to run again.
Rajković and Kaluđerović are close to Joković. In May 2022, Kaluđerović was appointed as an adviser to the Vice President of the Government of Montenegro for the economic system, i.e. Joković, and she was dismissed from her position in June of the following year, when she was elected as an MP.
Last year, Rajković was also the adviser to the Deputy Prime Minister for the economic system, during Joković's mandate, and since April of this year, he has been the acting director of the Directorate for Forest and Hunting Management.
Neither Šćekić nor Joković answered the calls and messages of "Vijesti" yesterday.
Šćekić announced a few months ago that he would run for party president, which he recently confirmed with the words "that he will return the membership and the SNP to the path it once was on". He is the current minister of sports and youth and vice president of the Socialist People's Party (SNP).
Earlier, Joković said on TV Vijesti's show "Nachisto" that he thinks there should be more candidates in the running for party president, but that everyone should accept that they will later respect the decisions of the Congress.
"I don't know if there will be any at the moment. Our procedure is to propose and whoever accepts the proposal will be the candidate," said Joković at the time.
Joković also said that if someone thinks that the Congress should be held sooner, that they should start the procedure for that, but he thinks that he is doing his job well.
At the session of the Main Board of the party at the beginning of September this year, not enough members came to have a quorum to hold the session. The party announced that they will soon organize a session of the Main Board of the SNP, which the media will be able to attend and make sure that there is a quorum at their sessions.
