The leaders of the European Union Damir Šehović, Ivan Vujović, Vatroslav Belan and the head of the SD parliamentary group in the Parliament of Montenegro Boris Mugoša held a meeting today with the newly appointed ambassador of the EU Delegation to Montenegro, Johan Satler.
The announcement of the European Union states that the representatives of that coalition wished Satler a successful mandate in Montenegro, which, with joint full commitment, will result in a decisive step forward for Montenegro on the EU agenda.
"The European Union is a supra-party platform made up of parties and independent intellectuals and social activists who more than three decades ago set European integration as a strategic foreign policy goal, and both then and today are the true representatives and advocates of European, civil and secular Montenegro." said representatives of the European Union.
They added that they do not want to join the EU just any Montenegro, but one that is undeniably European, that has fully accepted the values that are the foundation of the EU and whose political, security, social and economic framework is fully ready to be part of the European family country.
"The European Union knows what are the obligations of Montenegro on the way to join the EU, and as the current opposition, and especially as part of the future government both at the local and state level, it will make a key contribution to their fulfillment. In this line, the representatives of the European Union indicated that they need additional joint efforts to significantly reduce the pro-Russian influence in Montenegro, which is trying to first collapse the civil organization of the country and then stop the Montenegrin path towards the EU EU," the announcement reads.
