The President of the Parliament Andrija Mandić presented the new logo of the Parliament of Montenegro, which shows the building of the Assembly of the Capital of Cetinje, i.e. the former Zeta Banovina.
He announced this during the parliamentary session in Cetinje, and explained that he made the decision with an authorized representative of the General Secretariat of the Assembly.
Mandić said that it was all his idea and realization.
"Which is logical in the representative building in which we are still sitting, the building of the former Zetska banovina where after the Second World War, all the most important institutions of the Republic of Montenegro were located. In this way, we as the Assembly want to respect the Capital and us as deputies, and to say how important this city is for all of us, that we have the privilege of being the successors of that great work. This will be the new logo of the Assembly, this building where the Assembly sits today," said Mandić.
He also spoke about today, which he said was the 90th anniversary of the death of the first victim of fascism in Europe, that is, King Aleksandar Karađorđević of Yugoslavia. He added that he is the only king who was born in Cetinje, and that he deserves to be mentioned.
Member of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) Andrija Nikolić asked on the basis of which article and act Mandić gave himself the right to change the logo of the Assembly.
Mandić read Article 28 and emphasized that the Secretary General determines the visual identity and logo of the Assembly, the website and accounts of the Assembly on social networks, with the prior consent of the Speaker of the Parliament.
"If you don't like this visual identity and the Capital where we are sitting today and where the Assemblies are held, I think it would be good to inform the public about it," said Mandić.
Nikolić emphasized that this is a continuation of the abuse of the Assembly and that it would have been correct and polite if he had discussed it with the heads of parliamentary clubs.
"It is clear that you are now suggesting to us that you violated the rules of procedure because you read the article on the basis of which the Secretary General does it with your prior consent, which means that he was instructed to present it thanks to your initiative. The symbolism is clear and for this reason you are calling to the Zeta Banovina, at a time when Montenegro lost its name, state dignity and part of the territory, and the Zeta Banovina was a province within the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes," emphasized Nikolić and added that it is clear what Mandic and the parliamentary majority are doing.
Mandić stated that he wanted to respect the building where the most important decisions were made and that it is one of the most beautiful historical buildings, and that nothing was violated by this decision.
Nikolić added that several years ago, Mandić spoke about Cetinje, as a small village below Lovcen, and that he does not deal with these topics by chance. He repeated that such behavior is approved by the parliamentary majority.
Filip Adžić, MP of the Civic Movement URA, stated that this is a continuation of Mandić's provocations towards the citizens of Cetinje and Montenegro.
DPS MP Oskar Huter stated that it was Mandić's debt to the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, and that he would not be able to do so for long.
The Social Democrats added that Mandić is talking about historical victims, while Montenegro deals with peer violence until children are not safe, and almost lose their lives.
MP of that club Boris Mugoša asked Mandić for his comment on the statement of Serbian Interior Minister Ivica Dačić, who said that Montenegrin criminal groups use Belgrade as a place for confrontation and added that "every village in Montenegro has its own organized criminal group". He pointed out that Mandić deals with unimportant topics such as the Parliament's logo, and not much more important issues.
