The Naprijed movement announced that they submitted appeals to the Constitutional Court against the decisions of the State Election Commission, which rejected 14 objections related to, as they claim, irregularities in the elections in Podgorica.

"Given that the Election Commission of the Capital City and the State Election Commission unfoundedly rejected all our objections, we have decided to turn to the Constitutional Court as the highest instance for resolving election disputes," the announcement states.

They expect that the Constitutional Court will rule positively on their appeals and make a decision on repeating the elections at several polling stations in Podgorica.

"In this way, they would show that there is a will to conduct election processes in a fair and honest manner, in accordance with the applicable legal norms, but also with the constitutional principle that Montenegro is a state governed by the rule of law, where everyone has the same rights and obligations".

The list of Pokreta Naprijed, led by Vuk Kadić, with 2,75 percent of voters' support, remained below the threshold in the local elections in Podgorica on September 29, and they lacked about 200 votes to enter the city parliament.

Kadić demanded the annulment of the election and the repetition of voting at 14 polling stations, where 10.482 voters were registered. According to preliminary election results, 5.979 citizens with the right to vote voted at those polling stations.

The alleged irregularities referred to concern the mismatch between the number of ballots and the number of control coupons, and one related to voting in Doljani, for which an excerpt from the voter list has disappeared.
