Nine Montenegrin municipalities are in deep demographic age, announced the head of the Department for Demography in the Directorate for Statistics (Monstat), Milena Vukotić.

She said this at today's presentation of the results of the 2023 population census.

As she pointed out, in the previous census, only Plužine had such statistics, while today it is Gusinje, Andrijevica, Kolašin, Mojkovac, Šavnik, Žabljak, Plužine, Pljevlja, and Cetinje.

She announced that Rožaje with an average age of 35,8 years is the municipality with the youngest population, while Plužine has the oldest population with an average age of 47,3 years.

As she said, children under the age of five make up 6,9 percent of the population, children from six to 14 years old 11,2 percent, while children from 15 to 18 years old, according to the results of the census, are 4,6 percent.

"The population of working age, aged 15 to 64, makes up 65,1 percent of the total population," Vukotić said, adding that 78,4 percent are adults.
