The municipal board of the New Serbian Democracy (NSD) Bar announced today that it "supports the justified protests of the citizens of Bar, who demand better protection of children from peer violence and an adequate response by state authorities to this deviant phenomenon".
"This problem is particularly pronounced in Bar, where already year after year, alarming situations occur in which the health and life of children and youth are endangered. In this sense, systemic changes to the legislative framework are needed. Even last year, our councilor Branimir Lakićević demanded that through legal regulations, the mandatory employment of social workers in all secondary and elementary schools is introduced, because a social worker is someone who acts proactively and solves the problem in advance, that is, influences so that the problem does not even occur," the NSD Bar press release points out.
The party added that it simply cannot go on like this anymore and that the status quo and declarative support do not make sense.
"The problem needs to be solved immediately. Overbooked schools, inadequate school facilities are something that makes students think of school as a place where they should stay as short as possible, and not as it should be - a place where they acquire the knowledge and habits they will need for future life," said the NSD Bar.
The family of Daris Mujić (18), who was seriously wounded with a knife on October 7 in the courtyard of the Bar Gymnasium "Niko Rolović", organized a protest against violence today in Bar, from which they demanded urgent changes to the law for minors, in order to prevent such attacks in of the future.
On the plateau in front of the "Izbor" department store, at a protest under the slogan "City for Darisa", hundreds of citizens of Bar gathered to show their support.
