This was announced by the Democrats' deputies' club in response to the Human Rights Action (HRA) statement, in which they stated that the Democrats' call to raise their voice against the irresponsible behavior of the courts is disappointing populism, against human rights.
They claim that it is a vile hoax that the Democrats are against judges, that they exert pressure, that they are against a fair trial or that in the end, they threaten anyone's rights and freedoms, but that they will not be silent about the generally present anomalies in the judiciary.

"We will not characterize HRA's statement in which this organization accuses us of populism, among other things, and that only because we are calling for institutional action, but regretfully state that this time they completely missed the address and the time," said the Democrats' deputies.
They add that they will not justify themselves because there is nothing frightening or radical in their announcement, nor does it go into the merits of the court's decision, which shocked the entire public, as confirmed by the mass protest in Bar.
They point out that they agree with the HRA assessment that the problem of peer violence must be seen much more broadly if they think that it is being solved, and that HRA is doing the opposite.
"Because everything that is happening today is the result of numerous negative causes that occurred in the past. It is precisely solving or eliminating numerous causes that, among other things, also result in peer violence, is what Democratic Montenegro strives for programmatically. The efforts we invest in suppressing various forms of criminality, potentially create conditions for eliminating numerous problems in our society, and thus also preventing juvenile delinquency," reads the press release of the club of Democrats.
As they state, theses from the announcement that "regardless of the fact that the politicians think that he should remain in prison and receive a sentence without a trial" and "we do not want a state where politicians decide on detention, because such a state would be undemocratic, against the rule of law and it would certainly not deserve to join the European Union!” apparently imputing it to the Democrats, are malicious and misdirected to say the least.
"We will also remind you of the fact that just a few days ago the HRA silenced the statement of the opposition MP who accused the judicial authorities in the case of extending the detention of Lazović and Katnić. We will also remind you that Democratic Montenegro and its officials since its establishment in 2015 and until today contributed to the democratization of society, the strengthening of the rule of law, and especially by their actions in the last year, the acceleration of our European path, which, for example, cannot be said for the parties of the former regime, which are precisely through Vesna Medenica, about whose rights and freedoms today it seems that everyone cares , without needing to defend it from us, directly influenced the independence of the judiciary in Montenegro, influenced the passing of judgments and detention. Unfortunately, it was not only politicians who influenced the judiciary, but also criminal groups, i.e. drug cartels, precisely through the aforementioned Medenica, creating the cause we wrote about above and which had a catastrophic impact on the entire society," say the Democrats.
They also state that the case of the influence of the former Mayor of Podgorica, who is asking Medenica to urge the detention of his fellow citizen and members of his family, is an egregious example of everything that the HRA has written about detention and influence on the judiciary.
"The sentence: "President, when those detained on criminal charges are detained, it is important that the judge does not release them after two days", as well as the continuation of the correspondence that was published in the media, where after receiving confirmation that he will act as he is The mayor demanded, he calls his fellow citizens "glibs", "gang" and "neanderthals", it had to provoke at least some reaction and condemnation of the relevant organizations and associations. That is why we emphasize even more strongly that it is an absolute vile fraud, that Democratic Montenegro is against it the judge, that he is against a fair trial or that in the end, he threatens the rights and freedoms of anyone. ", the announcement reads.
