The leader of the Boke Forum Andrija Petković announced that he is resigning from the post of vice president of the Municipality of Tivat.

He says that since that civic list no longer has a representative in the local parliament, it would be "hypocritical" on his part to continue to hold that office. Petković announced yesterday that he dissolved the High Council of the Bokeš Forum.

"At the same time, the responsibility that this position produces for a long period of time is far greater than my ability to influence things. Without wanting to seek any justifications, I consider that the huge ideological differences between the partners in power, despite the obligation to deal with communal issues, are significant contributed to misunderstanding. Especially in terms of relations with those political entities that correspond to their headquarters. I still believe that only local civil lists can lead to positive changes in local communities. Unfortunately, in the case of Tivat, this was not possible after elections in 2022," announced Petković.

"What certainly did not work out for us in our attempt to act together are the general social circumstances in which the values that I have fought for since 1992, when I became a member of the Liberal Union of Montenegro, are collapsing. And that is dependent on no one the state of Montenegro, based on the principles of the rule of law. Our views on these issues are diametrically opposed and the attempt to find a common language, despite the initial good will, still represented a utopia," he adds.

Petković said that, since for a long period he avoids meetings with "republican officials" with whom he shares "no ideological beliefs at all", especially those related to "issues related to my country Montenegro, its language, anthem, coat of arms and flag", believes that it cannot adequately contribute to the realization of important projects.

"And finally, but by no means the least important... As the wonderful Brazilian poet Mario de Andrade used to say: 'I counted my years and found that I have less time left to live than what I have lived so far. I have no more time for endless conferences on who talk about statutes, rules, procedures and internal regulations knowing that none of this will be achieved. I don't want to be in meetings where the ego is inflated. I am annoyed by envious people who try to discredit the able in order to win their positions, talents and achievements '”.

"Because of all that, and for reasons about which (at this moment) I would not burden the public of Tivat and thus cause political or any other harm to anyone, I am resigning from the position of vice-president of the Municipality of Tivat. I also use this opportunity to thank a certain number of people in the Municipality of Tivat and the local community, with whom I had the opportunity to successfully cooperate," said Petković.
