In the local elections, the citizens of Podgorica expressed their will to end bad practices, which indicates the need for a new approach in the management of local politics, as well as the desire to establish transparency and accountability of the authorities towards the citizens, the president of the Citizens' Movement URA assessed at today's meeting with German Ambassador Peter Felten.

The recently held local elections in Podgorica were one of the topics of the meeting, and their importance for further political processes in the country was highlighted, according to the announcement of the GP URA.

Abazović also assessed that the 43rd Government, headed by him, had great results when it comes to the rule of law, which is now, according to the president of GP URA, not so much in focus.

He also said that bad practices also occur in the parliament, such as the adoption of laws without public discussion.

At the meeting, they discussed the current political situation, with a special focus on the further process of European integration and the recently held local elections in Podgorica, announced the GP URA.

"We are firmly committed to European integration and the goal of Montenegro becoming the next member of the European Union. Our full membership can be an indicator that the policy of enlargement is still current and can serve as a motive for other candidate countries to continue their journey," said Abazović.

He said that his party, as before, will be constructive when it comes to issues of the European agenda, while clearly and transparently expressing its position.

"Our role in the EU integration process will be to contribute, as we did in the past. We will have a constructive approach. However, I must point out that certain practices that are happening in the parliament are not good. We cannot adopt laws just to check off a list, and that after that, we will immediately make amendments to the adopted legal solutions. There are also laws that are of extreme importance, which are adopted without public discussion, communication with the European Commission and our civil sector become a practice and we will always raise our voice against such intentions of the parliamentary majority. We had a similar situation when the parliamentary majority publicly expressed its intention on the proposal of the Law on Agents of Foreign Influence, which is absolutely unacceptable for the URA movement," he said.

The meeting was also attended by Ralf Rojš, Deputy German Ambassador to Montenegro, as well as Mileta Radovanić, Secretary General of URE.
