The construction of a large underground garage with 500 parking spaces, above which there will be a park and a fish market, will be one of the priority projects of the new municipal administration, which will be led by the Citizens' Movement URA, announced the list "URA - Blažo Rađenović - Different!".
"On as much as 7.000 square meters of state ownership, in the area from the former Zeta film building, all the way to the 'Avala' hotel, we will build a large underground garage with 500 parking spaces, while the above-ground part of the garage will have two purposes - a large park of as much as 3.500 m2 and a large fish market, also on 3.500 square meters. In this way, we are solving the acute problem of missing parking, arranging a neglected location - only 100 meters from the walls of the Old Town, but also getting a long-promised, modern fish market, which will be a new gathering place and a new a tourist attraction of Budva", according to the press release sent to the media.
In this way, the space in the heart of Budva that has been occupied by cars and exhaust gases for decades will be freed and repurposed, say GP URA.
"Instead of unorganized parking, noise and dirt, we will get a huge underground garage that will be able to service the needs of the citizens of Budva and all tourists, and which will bring all traffic underground. On the above-ground part in front of the former Zetafilm building, we will build a large fish market, which is which Budva needs, and which will be located in a perfect place - not far from the main promenade and the Budva Port. Also, in the area from the market to the "Avala" hotel, we will build a large green oasis of 3.500 m2, which will beautify that neglected part of the city and offer numerous contents, both for children and for our old fellow citizens," promised the party's Budva committee.
They said that immediately after the formation of the municipal administration, they will begin the procedure of creating project documentation - conceptual solution, which will be created at an international competition, as well as the later main project, in order to start the construction of a large underground garage as soon as possible.
"After the preparation of the geodetic base, the Municipality will announce a large international competition for the development of a conceptual solution, which will offer the highest quality models of valorization of the mentioned area, which will greatly benefit all fellow citizens, as well as all hotel facilities in the immediate vicinity. In addition to solving the parking issue , the construction of the most modern fish market will bring back the spirit to this part of Budva and create a great connection with the area around the Old Town, which will further strengthen the tourist offer and use the remaining space in the best possible way," said GP URA.
They concluded that the previous local administrations did not have a vision of what Budva should look like in 10 or 15 years, but that the overall development of the Municipality was "ad hoc" and always subordinated to the interests of big capital, which must finally change after the local elections.
