The report of the European Commission on the progress of Montenegro is generally positive, although in some chapters there was no progress, "Vijesti" learns.
"Overall, the EC report is positive and it will be shorter than ever," said a "Vijesti" interlocutor familiar with the summary of the report, which will be published tomorrow in Brussels.
"Significant progress has been registered in the area of the rule of law. In that part, the work of the prosecutor's office was evaluated quite positively".
The "Vijesti" source said that in the negotiation chapters 6 (commercial law) and 8 (competition) there was no progress, but no setbacks either.
"It is possible that the EC will give similar assessments for chapters 14 (transport policy) and 21 (trans-European networks)".
The Minister of European Affairs, Maida Gorčević, last Friday in front of the Committee for European Integration, pointed out that the EC report will state the progress of Montenegro in all negotiation chapters.
EC President Ursula von der Leyen said in Podgorica on Saturday that the EC report will be positive.
Gorčević said that the biggest step forward was obtaining IBAR, which is an indicator that EU integration is a cohesive factor of all political subjects.
She told the committee that Montenegro is in the process of drafting a new EU accession program for the next two years: "We will have new deadlines for closing chapters, which we will communicate with the departments and the EC."
