The European future of our country is a dream shared by many generations, and we must use every opportunity to ensure that Montenegro becomes the next member of the European Union, said the president of the Citizens' Movement URA Dritan Abazović.
He met with Tomas Weiss, the chairman of the Parliamentary Committee for Stabilization and Association (POSP) of the European Union and Montenegro, and GP URA says that on that occasion the importance of further European integration of Montenegro was expressed.
Abazović said that the European future of Montenegro is a dream that can be achieved and that it requires joint engagement. "I am glad to see you in that place, you have been following the political and social relations in our country for a long time and you are a proven friend of Montenegro", said Abazović and confirmed, as announced by URA, the party's commitment to European values and principles.
He also expressed his satisfaction with the membership of GP URA in the family of European green parties.
"We are proud to be part of the same political family. URA, as a full member of the Greens of Europe, has always been a reliable European partner. This additionally enables us to have stronger cooperation and greater support on Montenegro's path to the EU".
Abazović pointed to the "worrying practice" of adopting laws without public hearings and without the prior opinion of the European Commission.
"This practice carried out by the parliamentary majority can have serious consequences for our European integration. Transparency and wider involvement in the decision-making process are essential. We must bear in mind how important the fact that the adoption of key laws must be in accordance with EU norms and standards is for the further process of European integration".
At the meeting, further steps were agreed in the European Parliament with the aim of strengthening the European perspective of Montenegro and the continuation of intensive cooperation and dialogue, the announcement reads.
The meeting was attended by the vice presidents of the URA GP Miloš Konatar and Filip Adžić and the general secretary of the party Mileta Radovanić.
