I will not allow anyone to jeopardize the path to the European Union (EU), announced the Prime Minister of Montenegro, Milojko Spajić.

At the presentation of the European Commission (EC) report at the European House in Podgorica, he said that this is a historic moment and that the country needs a new European platform.

He said that the current Government and Parliament have a chance for eternity - to bring the country into the EU.

"The four chapters should be closed at the intergovernmental conference in December," Spajić said.

He said that the state, among other things, improved the state of readiness in five chapters.

"Additional steps should be taken for good relations with Croatia," Spajić said.

Spajić said that after several years of blockade in the judiciary, in just a few months of the mandate, inclusive and through dialogue, a political consensus was established regarding appointments in the judiciary - the election of the Supreme State Prosecutor, the missing members of the Judicial Council and the President of the Constitutional Court, and through the legislative reform, introduced unblocking mechanism that will facilitate the election of the President of the Supreme Court.

"The political will and teamwork of the administration was crowned with IBAR, the Report on the fulfillment of temporary benchmarks in chapters 23 and 24. In step with IBAR, which was the absolute priority of our administration and a condition for the further course of negotiations, progress was made in other areas of the European integration process and progress in a large part of the chapters, without a setback in any of the 33 negotiation chapters," Spajić said.

He pointed out that their analysis of the EC Report showed that progress had been made in 30 chapters, and that in addition the EC acknowledged the rapid progress compared to the previous report in as many as 13 negotiation chapters.

"From that, in the fundamental chapters 23 and 24, the rule of law, after years of tapping in the place, that progress was marked as good for the first time," Spajić said.

He pointed out that for the first time in the history of negotiations for progress last year, Montenegro received a rating of very good progress in two negotiation chapters, 7 - Intellectual Property Law and 10 - Information Society and Media.

"Such success and the belief that membership is within reach was possible because every social actor, motivated civil servant, encouraged state prosecutor, conscientious MP gave their maximum, and the citizens of Montenegro undivided support and renewed hope for Montenegro's European path" , said Spajić.

Spajić said that the plan of the 44th Government and everyone in Montenegro is for the period until 2028 to be a period of expression of full social potential.

"Let's close ranks and show the European Union that it accepts under its wing a country that inherits the same values, that builds on and complements the spirit of democracy and Europeanism. With new vigor, and in the belief that by 2028, Montenegro will become the 28th member of the European Union." Spajic said.
