Spajić: I am convinced that political actors will find the wisdom and maturity to realize that the vast majority of voters are for the EU

Prime Minister Milojko Spajić is at today's presentation of the European Commission's (EC) report at the European House in Podgorica, answering a journalist's question as to whether the partners in power - primarily the former Democratic Front (DF), are ready to put aside the initiatives by 2028 refer to changes in the Constitution in the part of the Serbian language as official and dual citizenship and support the "Barometar 2026" platform that he proposed, said that the platform has been addressed to all parties and that they expect support from all.

"Because, in order to finish according to this dynamic, we need to finish the negotiations at the end of 2026. Entry by 2028 depends heavily on the member countries. It is a part of the process that we cannot fully control. But the part that we can control, where we have the support of the European Commission (EC), is that we close the chapters as soon as possible, by January 1, 2027," Spajić said.

He said that he is convinced that all political actors will find the wisdom and maturity to understand that the vast majority of voters of each parliamentary party are in favor of joining the EU.

"This is data that gives optimism that everyone will accept such a platform. This platform will provide a legitimate way to resolve all open issues in dialogue, without that dialogue burdening the main work of the Government, Parliament and other institutions," Spajić said.
