Maida Gorčević, Minister of European Affairs and member of the Presidency of the Europe Now Movement (PES), said that the accusations of the Civil Movement URA that it influences the editorial policy of the Radio and Television of Montenegro (RTCG) are unfounded.
URA announced this morning that the editorial board of the Public Service canceled an earlier invitation to their political director and MP Ana Novaković Đurović to be a guest of today's "Argumenti" show, and they claim that it was requested by Gorčević.
"After Montenegro achieved the most positive report of the European Commission so far, my focus remains solely on the successful closing of four key negotiation chapters by the end of the year, as well as on achieving full membership in the EU by 2028. Accusations that I influence editorial policy of public service are absolutely unfounded," he wrote in the response.
Gorčević says that as Minister of European Affairs, she fully respects the independence of the media, especially the Public Service, which was established to ensure impartial and balanced information for citizens.
"After all, the integration policy we lead is based precisely on the principles of freedom of the media and public responsibility. I perceive every insinuation about the alleged influence on the program as an attempt to divert attention from these successes that Montenegro achieves on the European path every day. I invite all parties to jointly contribute European progress of the country, because citizens are the ones who expect concrete results, not empty accusations that slow down the common path to the EU," she said.
