The report of the European Commission (EC) is another important confirmation that Montenegro is moving forward towards achieving its priority foreign policy goal - membership in the European Union (EU), said the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ervin Ibrahimović.

In a video statement delivered to the media, he said that the Report is a roadmap that maps the road ahead of Montenegro and facilitates the further process.

Ibrahimović stated that the Report clearly indicates the areas in which Montenegro meets the standards.

"But it also identifies fields in which additional engagement is needed, especially since it comes after receiving a positive Report on the fulfillment of temporary standards in June, when the final standards in the area of the rule of law were defined for the first time," added Ibrahimović.

According to him, the Report simultaneously obliges Montenegro to continue with the same dedication.

"Because every step we take today is a step closer to full membership in the EU and a better future for all our citizens," said Ibrahimović.

He stated that, in addition to the results achieved in the past year, constant progress is an indicator of the overall transformation of society and the efforts that have been made over the years.

"We are particularly pleased that chapter 31 - foreign, defense and security policy, which is under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MVP), was positively evaluated, as in last year's report," stated Ibrahimović.

This, he added, resulted in a recommendation for its closure at the next Intergovernmental Conference.

Ibrahimović said that this year it was emphasized that it was very important that Montenegro continued 100% compliance with the common foreign and security policy of the EU.

"All of the above, along with last week's visit and evaluations by the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, and the strong support of the member states - are our joint successes," said Ibrahimović.

He said that he is proud of the maturity and readiness for cooperation and compromise that Montenegrin society shows in relation to the European agenda.

"The MVP will continue with all diplomatic activities, in the country and through our diplomatic-consular network, so that Montenegro will be in a position to close all the remaining chapters of the EU acquis and become a member by 2028 as soon as possible," said Ibrahimović.

He thanked all the institutions, colleagues in the state administration, political subjects, international partners, civil society and citizens who contribute to the fulfillment of the foreign policy goals of the state, first of all, integration into the EU.
