The holder of the "In word and deed!" list, Nermin Abdić, announced tonight that the conditions have been met to invite all political structures that are not part of the current parliamentary majority to negotiations on the formation of the government in Podgorica.
Abdić's statement was delivered by the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS).
"Vijesti" announced earlier this evening that DPS will invite parties that won seats in the local parliament, but are not part of the ruling majority at the state level, to negotiations on the formation of the government in Podgorica.
The DPS announcement states that Abdić thanked the voters and all the people who wish Podgorica well, and called for negotiations on the formation of the government after the recently concluded local elections.
"Last night, a session of the Municipal Electoral Commission was held, which announced the final results of the elections. It seems that the conditions have been met for us, as the strongest list, to send an invitation to all political structures that are not part of the current parliamentary majority and that do not want to change the structure of the Government to one correct, civilized and democratic conversation, in order to see what is best in the interests of the citizens of our capital city. The party I represent and the list I led will certainly not be an obstacle to the development of Podgorica," said Abdić.
He added that he is open to an agreement.
"We want an agreement and we are in favor of an agreement. We do not want the citizens of Podgorica to be held hostage by political manipulations, but we will enter into these negotiations in the best possible way, honestly stating what our political position is. We have said many times that armchairs are not our priority, our priority is the development of the city, to do something for this city that has stumbled, a city that has been in chaos for the last two years, and we must stand in the way of that with joint forces," said Abdić.
He said that he will not betray the trust of the citizens.
"If there is an agreement, good luck to everyone, let's do something for the city, if there is no agreement, we are ready for any scenario, but we will certainly not betray the electoral will of our voters and we will not betray the trust of 24.000 voters," concluded Abdić.
The political structures that won mandates in the local elections in Podgorica and are not part of the ruling majority at the state level are the coalition "For a better Podgorica", which consists of the Movement for Podgorica by Jakov Milatović, the URA Civic Movement and the Movement for Changes, the European Union (Social Democrats, Social Democratic Party and the Liberal Party), the Party of European Progress (SEP) of former Prime Minister Duško Marković and the Reversal Movement.
In the local elections in Podgorica on September 29, DPS won 19 mandates, the coalition of the Europe Now Movement (PES) and Democratic Montenegro 14, the coalition for the future of Podgorica 13, the list "Za bolju Podgorica - Jakov Milatović" six, the European Union three and the Party of European of progress and the Upheaval Movement for two mandates each.
Yesterday, the Constitutional Court rejected all the appeals of the Naprijed Movement headed by Vuk Kadić regarding alleged irregularities in the elections.
