The words of the president of the European Commission (EC) that the results achieved are impressive and that we should be proud of them, together with the most positive report of the European Union (EU) in which progress is recognized in almost all fields, is the best confirmation, but also the answer to all cheap and ill-intentioned attempts of obstruction, announced today Aleksa Bečić, Deputy Prime Minister for Security, Defense, Fight against Crime and Internal Policy and President of Democratic Montenegro.
"There has never been a better EC report for Montenegro, never greater praise from EU leaders, never better results in the field of the rule of law and the acceleration of our European path. These recognitions come exactly after one year of the work of the 44th Government, it is now completely clear that the most successful Government in recent history Montenegro. The state of instability, blockade, stagnation, dysfunctionality of many institutions and processes from a year ago, we turned into never greater political stability and support in the Parliament, holding the European census, then obtaining the historic IBAR, preparing the closing of four negotiation chapters, very notable results in the fight against crime and corruption, as well as further economic and social strengthening of Montenegrin citizens," Bečić pointed out in the announcement.
He added that the best grades ever were given in relation to chapters 23 and 24.
"The fact that the EU has assessed that we have made good progress in the fight against crime, corruption and other important security aspects is a source of pride for all of us and the many members of the security sector and the prosecution who, in cooperation with international partners, stand at the forefront of the fight for the rule of law and strong institutions. We continue even stronger, because if we maintain the pace of success and progress from the first year of the Government's mandate, it is absolutely realistic that we will close the negotiation chapters by the end of 2026, and in 2028 we will become the 28th member of the EU," said Bečić.
He said that this is a historic chance that this generation of politicians will not miss.
"That's why we continue to focus on topics on which the future of our country depends and which unite all well-intentioned actors of this society, namely the rule of law, economic and social policy and the continuation of progress on the European path. In addition to the very positive report that came as the crowning achievement of the Government for the first year of the mandate, congratulations to the employees in our country and for the increase in wages that are being paid these days. We continue together and resolutely towards new victories," concluded Bečić.
