The Municipal Election Commission (MEC) in Kotor decided this morning, by majority vote, that the voting at two polling stations should not be repeated, Vijesti has learned.
At the session of the MEC, the agenda included the decision of the State Election Commission (SEC) on the cancellation of voting at the Mirac polling station and the House of Culture in Prčanje.
After the discussion, both solutions were rejected by a vote of 9:7 because the MEC determined that the irregularities were not of such a scale that the elections would be annulled and the elections would be repeated, said the source of Vijesti.
Now MEC is no longer blocked, i.e. the majority in the MEC exists and is not for repeating the election but for declaring the final results.
The source of Vijesti said that complaints from the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) to the State Election Commission (SEC) are now expected.
Local elections were held in Kotor on September 29, but due to objections regarding two polling stations, the final results have not yet been announced. Due to the stalemate in the MEC, as well as in the Constitutional Court, it could not be decided whether the elections at those polling stations would be repeated.
The President of the Municipality of Kotor, Vladimir Jokić, withdrew his appeal to the Constitutional Court this week.
According to the preliminary results of the elections in Kotor held on September 29, DPS and the PES-Democrats coalition won ten mandates each, the alliance "For the Future of Kotor", Grbljanska lista and Democratic Alternative three each, the European Alliance two, and the Croatian Civic Initiative (HGI) and Kotor movement for mandate. By repeating the elections in two polling stations, DPS can "seize" the mandate from PES and the Democrats.
