The extradition of Turkish citizen Binali Çamgoz contributed to strengthening cooperation and overcoming certain open issues.
This was announced by the Government of Montenegro after the meeting of Prime Minister Milojko Spajić with the delegation of the Turkish Parliament, led by the President of the Committee for Foreign Policy in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, Fuat Oktaj.
It also says that there is a great chance for the development of economic relations.
"Turkey is a very important partner for Montenegro, and I believe that our planned investments in infrastructure in the next six years are a great chance for a stronger presence of Turkish companies. I truly believe that we have not even come close to the limits of economic cooperation between the two countries," Spajić said.
Oktaj, writes in the announcement, emphasized that numerous Turkish companies are interested in the construction of road infrastructure, but also to be represented in the reconstruction of the Bar - Belgrade railway. In addition, he mentioned the possibility of stronger cooperation in the fields of agriculture, tourism, and defense.
"We are very happy that we are in third place when it comes to direct foreign investments in Montenegro, but we believe that this is not enough, there is a serious opportunity for additional investment and we need to analyze the situation even better and improve our position," said Oktaj.
The Government announcement also states that TurkCham, which brings together Turkish companies in Montenegro and contributes to the improvement of cooperation in numerous branches of economic activity, with a focus on infrastructure, maritime, energy and mining.
"At the meeting, it was concluded that Montenegro is a true example for the entire region, in terms of relations with other countries of the Western Balkans, because according to Oktaj, it is a real island of peace and stability. It was concluded that numerous agreements, which are being harmonized, will contribute to better bilateral relations , and they could be signed during the official visit of Prime Minister Milojko Spajić, at the open invitation of the President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan," the announcement reads.
