The holder of the list of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) in the elections in Podgorica, Nermin Abdić, said that at the meeting with the officials of the European Union and the Party of European Progress, it was stated that the chaos and disorder in the capital city suffered by the citizens should be resolved as soon as possible.
"We are ready for any conversation, not at any cost, I don't want to play with the will of the citizens. We have principles that we will not trample on, we will not use armchairs," said Abdić, stating that they work on the platform of party bodies.
He also said that more than half of the citizens of Podgorica gave a clear assessment of the city administration in the elections.
"They delegitimized the city administration by saying that they were not satisfied with their work. This was the first meeting, which was politically cultural and what the political rulers dictate. We will see how the talks will proceed in the future. We have clearly shown that Podgorica is not for divisions and counting, but for order, work and discipline," Abdić said after the meeting held at the Hilton Hotel.
Answering the question about the platform announced by the coalition of the Movement for Podgorica and the Civic Movement URA, the holder of the DPS list said that he respects their position and that, when it is ready, he will act responsibly towards it.
The holder of the list of the Party of European Progress, Ilija Mugoš, assessed that the meeting was productive.
"Nevertheless, we believe that discussions about government should be based on concrete goals. In the invitation from DPS, we see as a flaw that there is no concrete basis for negotiations. We will not give blank support to anyone, and we will only discuss program priorities and improving the standard of living in Podgorica. I will dare I would like to say that we have agreed to hold a new meeting after receiving that specific platform," said Ilija Mugoša.
He expects the new meeting to be this week.
Official of the European Union and Social Democrats of Montenegro Boris Mugoša said that Podgorica is in institutional chaos.
"We must listen to the voice of the citizens, and their voice was clear. We expect that the government will be formed by those parties that have made a departure from the state government. It is up to us to respect what the citizens said in the elections. Podgorica is much more than ordinary local self-government. In Podgorica, we have half of Montenegro every day," said Boris Mugoša.
He believes that what is in the interest of the citizens of Montenegro will be agreed upon and implemented.
The European Union and the Party of European Progress were the only ones to respond to the DPS's call for negotiations on the formation of the government in the capital.
Abdić called for negotiations with political structures that are not part of the current parliamentary majority and that do not form the structure of the Government
Abdić came to the negotiations held at the Hilton Hotel with councilors Andrija Klikovec and Maja Miročević Rotolo.
Ilija Mugoša came to the meeting alone.
Apart from Boris Mugoš, the European Union is represented by officials of the Social Democratic Party, Budimir Mugoša, and the Liberal Party, Aleksandar Ljumović.
