Budva needs a clear vision of destination management, with a special emphasis on sustainable development, and a step towards that is the development of the Tourism Development Strategy, which will ensure the proper valorization of the natural and cultural values of this area, assessed the candidate for councilor on the list "European Union - Petar Odžić (SDP, SD, LP and citizens) - A clean choice", Predrag Zec.
According to him, with the development of mass tourism, Budva's tourist offer has become uniform, which makes its long-term promotion and recognition on the tourist market difficult. Therefore, as he stated, the Strategy will enable the promotion of authentic local traditions and culture, with a special focus on the development of the hinterland of the municipality of Budva and the revitalization of neglected cultural and historical monuments and villages.
"With this approach, Budva will reduce the seasonal nature of tourism through the development of various selective forms of tourism, such as rural, ecological, cultural, event, congress and active tourism. In order to improve the quality of the tourist offer, we will devote ourselves to professional development and training of personnel", stated Zec .
Although, Zec points out, we face challenges such as poor air availability, overloaded road infrastructure and a lack of qualified workers, our goal remains to achieve positive results in tourism. However, he adds, the increase in the VAT rate for restaurateurs and accommodation providers further threatens the competitiveness of Montenegro as a destination.
"The city gate of the Sveti Stefan Hotel, closed for more than three years, is a symbol of inadequate management of the destination. Budva deserves a return to its old glory, and the European Union's list under number 7 is a guarantee that Budva, with responsible and dedicated management, will become a year-round tourist destination", concluded the Rabbit.
