Nenad Franeta, a candidate for councilor of "Movement for the City", said that they intend to build sports infrastructure to support the even greater development of sports.
"Budva is one of the most sporting cities in Montenegro, both in terms of the number of talents and the number of successful professional athletes, and the tradition in certain sports reaches back to the beginning of the last century. However, in spite of that, Budva does not have the necessary and basic conditions for playing sports, neither for professionals nor for recreational players. The reason for this lies in unplanned construction and urban plans that are tailored for businessmen, not for the citizens of this city. Today, Budva has one sports hall and one indoor swimming pool, but at the same time, not a single facility has a use permit or provides athletes with the minimum basic conditions for playing sports. The plan of 'Movement for the City' is to build a sports hall for martial arts, with a trim track and an open-air gym, with additional facilities, at the location in Topliš, where the dilapidated "Aqua Park" is located," stressed Franeta.
This, he added, will relieve the Meditetan sports center and the city swimming pool, and a large number of our fellow citizens who achieve great results in martial arts to the pride of Budva will finally get their own hall.
"Also, the decades-long promise to build an indoor pool of Olympic dimensions at the open pool 'Pizana' or at least reconstruct it and provide adequate conditions for practicing water sports is still only a promise. It remains the dream of all sincere lovers of water polo and swimming, and we will to initiate that the Government finally drafts the project and that it is realized in cooperation with the Municipality as soon as possible. For better times of Budva sports - support 'Movement for the City - Djordje Zenović' and number 3", Franeta concluded.
