The Balijagić case exposed the true intentions of the opposition and critics of the government, announced today from Democratic Montenegro.
"Just imagine the hypocrisy - representatives of the former regime portray Balijagić as 'an ordinary old man who the police cannot catch', apparently in an attempt to discredit the security sector. But, the same Balijagić escaped from prison under their administration, and they kept quiet about it , hiding the truth from the public. And not only that - after his escape from prison, members of the former regime were looking for him, and in the end they did not arrest him, but the citizens overcame him hid all the details of his deprivation of liberty," the Democrats' statement emphasized.
The party added that "this shows not only how unprepared the state at that time was to deal with such deviations, but also how ready it was to hide such and similar cases from the public, which confirms the view of many that it was a classic North Korean system ".
"It's no wonder, when we know that these days it's been 17 years since the brutal murder of Anela Hodžić from Beran, and the murderer Isad Muhović escaped justice from the representatives of the former regime. This case clearly shows how incapable the former regime was to protect citizens and find the killer the innocent and brutally murdered Anela Hodžić. Why are they criticizing the current security sector? Only to try to appoint Zoran Lazović as the head of the anti-crime department, and Slavko Stojanović as the chief adviser for cigarette smuggling. Milivoj Katnić for the judge of the Special Division of the High Court, which is clearly seen from their requests for their release," said the Democrats.
The party said that "those who are now criticizing the security sector have been silent for decades while hundreds of people died under mafia bullets - over 700 of them, of which 96 citizens were killed during Duško Marković's mandate alone, 42 in mafia confrontations, while six innocent people were killed by accident lost their lives".
"Marković then cold-bloodedly stated that 'no one kills honest people'. On the contrary, the new democratic authorities have drastically reduced the number of murders in the last four years. From 2020 until today, we had 10 victims of criminal confrontations and no accidental victims, while none a new criminal organization was not created. Does this hurt the critics? Because the criminals and their collaborators no longer decide on the fate of Montenegro. to fight after the elections. And the murder that happened in Cetinje two days before the elections in Podgorica only confirms that the mafia and their political puppets are planning to provoke mutual confrontations with the intention of taking over the security sector in cooperation with their political lawyers," they said from Democratic Montenegro.
The party states that the predecessors from the old regime would be better off staying silent, "because every word they say today reveals the bloody traces of the past".
"We know that the success of the current security sector hurts them, and that it will only hurt them - because there will be no more Lazović, Marović, Medenica, Milović, Zvicer, or Veljović. All those who saw Montenegro as private property will end up where they belong - in prison," concludes the Democrats' statement.
Alija Balijagić (60) from Bjelopol, suspected of the double murder of a brother and sister, Jovan (69) and Milenko Madžgalj (65), escaped from the prison in Spuz almost three decades ago, but the authorities kept quiet about it.
Dražen Boljević, a former guard of the Spuša prison, told "Vijesti" that, and his statements were confirmed by another former employee of the prison.
