The reason for the increase in water prices in Podgorica is reflected in the bad business and management of the Waterworks management, but also in the "Europe Now 2" program, said Miloš Mašković, councilor of the European Union.
"The increase in the price of water by 41 percent in the capital followed five days after Prime Minister Spajić's announcement that there would be no water increase. It was his mayor, Olivera Injac, who requested the scheduling of an extraordinary session of the Assembly," Mašković said at today's press conference.
He added that as of today, the debt of Vodovod for taxes and contributions amounts to about 2.500.000 euros.
"Taxes and contributions on wages were not paid for the period July-December 2023 in the amount of about 750.000 euros; taxes and contributions were not paid for the period January-October 2024, which is an additional 1.500.000 euros; neither the reprogram that was signed with the Tax Administration in 2022, which amounts to an additional 220.000 euros," Mašković pointed out.
He said that all the aforementioned debts are increased by the interest rate, which on an annual basis ranges from 12 percent in 2022, 12-12,5 percent in 2023, and 12,25 percent in 2024, which he said Mašković, increases the debts by an additional 100-200 thousand euros.
"Due to non-compliance with the signed protocols on the settlement of electricity debt, i.e. non-payment of current bills and contracted installments, in February and March 2024, late payment interest of around 15.000 euros was calculated, which was included in the new protocols signed in April," he said.
