After a short pause, the moment is right to further strengthen the relations between Montenegro and Azerbaijan, said the President of Montenegro, Jakov Milatović.
The Office for Public Relations of the President of Montenegro announced that during his stay in Baku, Milatović had a meeting with the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, and that on that occasion a joint commitment to further strengthening of political dialogue and intensification of economic cooperation was stated.
The announcement adds that Milatović congratulated Alijev on the successful organization of COP 29 and thanked him for the invitation to participate on behalf of Montenegro at this year's Summit, which deals with the global challenge of climate change.
"Montenegro and Azerbaijan are friendly countries. There is a huge potential for cooperation, especially in the field of energy, economy and tourism. After a short pause, the moment is right for the relations of the two countries to be further strengthened. Today's meeting is a confirmation of the commitment to the development of a long-term and sustainable partnership that is in the best interest of the citizens of Montenegro and Azerbaijan, which is bound by traditional friendship," Milatović pointed out.
The announcement also states that Milatović emphasized "the importance of realizing new investment projects such as 'Portonovi', which contribute to the positioning of Montenegro as a prestigious tourist destination".
"We need fresh ideas and new investments and projects that will further strengthen and expand economic cooperation between the two countries," said Milatović.
Alijev said that he considers Montenegro a friendly country and emphasized the interest in new investments and the strengthening of cooperation in numerous areas, which should be given special attention in the coming period.
"On that line, it was agreed to continue the talks during the next visit of President Milatović to Baku in order to concretize joint initiatives," the announcement reads.
The Public Relations Office of the President of Montenegro announced that there was a special discussion on finding the best modalities for energy cooperation and cooperation in the field of tourism.
"It was concluded that the strong relations between Montenegro and Azerbaijan provide an excellent foundation for further cooperation, and that today's meeting between the two presidents can be a turning point in the partnership, which is of special importance for both parties," the announcement concludes.
