Close to 60.000 Montenegrin citizens who declared themselves Montenegrins in last year's population census speak Serbian, about 2.000 Serbs speak Montenegrin, Bosniaks predominantly speak Bosnian, and Muslims Montenegrin.
This is shown by new data from the census of population, households and apartments, which the Directorate for Statistics MONSTAT published on its website.
They show that out of 256.436 citizens who declared themselves Montenegrins, 183.015 speak the Montenegrin language, and 58.856 speak Serbian. 7.463 Montenegrins said they spoke Serbo-Croatian, while 1.383 citizens who identified themselves as such did not want to say which language they spoke.
When it comes to those who identified themselves as Serbs, out of 205.370 of them, 199.844 speak Serbian, and 1.953 speak Montenegrin. 2.554 citizens who "write" themselves as Serbs stated that they speak Serbo-Croatian, while 104 of them did not want to state which language they spoke.
MONSTAT data show that the majority of Bosniaks speak the Bosnian language. Of the 58.956 who declared themselves Bosniaks, 42.319 speak Bosnian, and 1.843 speak Bosniak.
The Montenegrin language is spoken by 14.118 Bosniaks, and Serbian by 197 of them.
On the other hand, the majority of citizens who declared themselves Muslim in the census held at the end of last year speak the Montenegrin language. Out of 10.162 Muslims, 8.550 of them speak Montenegrin. 464 Muslims declared that they speak Bosnian, slightly fewer speak Serbian - 399, and 204 - Serbo-Croatian.
According to data from the MONSTAT website, out of 5.150 citizens who declared themselves Croats, 2.046 speak Croatian, 1.828 Montenegrin, 605 Serbo-Croatian, and 189 Serbian.
1.632 citizens declared themselves as Yugoslavs in the census. Most of them, 700, said they spoke Serbo-Croatian, 587 Serbian, and 149 Montenegrin.
Out of 12 Russians living in Montenegro, 824 of them speak Russian. 12.629 of them stated that they speak Serbian, and 73 - Montenegrin.
Of the 5.629 citizens who identified themselves as Roma, 4.438 speak the Roma language, 564 - Albanian, 363 - Montenegrin, and 156 - Serbian.
In the part of data on regional affiliation, out of 640 Bokeljes, 254 speak Serbian, 169 speak Serbo-Croatian, and 132 speak Montenegrin.
When it comes to religion, out of the total number of Montenegrins, 211.398 declared themselves to be Orthodox. There are 22.292 Montenegrins of Islamic faith, and Catholic - 5.795.
Among the Montenegrins, there are 9.381 atheists, 1.915 - agnostics, and 3.398 citizens who "identified" themselves as Montenegrins did not want to declare their religion.
Among those who declared themselves Serbs in the list, 203.990 are of the Orthodox faith. Among the Serbs, there are 497 atheists, 130 - Catholics, 90 - agnostics, while 133 citizens did not want to declare their religion.
Of the total number of Bosniaks, 58.859 declared themselves to be of the Islamic religion.
Among the Albanians, of whom there are 30.978 according to the census, 22.520 are of the Islamic religion, and 8.085 are Catholic.
Of the 10.162 Muslims, 10.097 are of the Islamic faith. There are 4.580 Croats who declare themselves as Catholics, and 157 as Orthodox.
Bokelji are predominantly of the Orthodox faith - 400 out of a total of 640 of them, while 153 citizens who identified themselves as Catholics.

MONSTAT has published data on citizenship by nationality.
According to these data, 252.207 citizens who declared themselves Montenegrins are citizens of Montenegro. Among Montenegrins, there are 2.010 citizens of Montenegro and other countries, and 2.202 of them are foreign citizens.
The data show that 187.309 citizens who declared themselves Serbs are citizens of Montenegro, while 3.841 citizens who declared themselves Serbs have the citizenship of Montenegro and other countries. Serbs who are foreign citizens is 14.220.
55.493 Bosniaks have Montenegrin citizenship, while 1.839 Bosniaks have citizenship of Montenegro and other foreign countries. There are 1.616 Bosniak foreign citizens.
There are 28.388 citizens of Montenegro who declare themselves as Albanians, and 1.155 Albanians have the citizenship of Montenegro and other foreign countries. There are 1.421 foreign Albanian citizens.
There are 9.705 Muslims who are Montenegrin citizens, 105 of those who have Montenegrin and foreign citizenship, and 351 of those who are foreign citizens.
There are 4.082 Croats who have Montenegrin citizenship. 632 Croats have citizenship of Montenegro and other foreign countries, while 433 of them are foreign citizens.
When it comes to Russians, 124 of them are Montenegrin citizens, and the same number of them have another citizenship in addition to Montenegrin. There are 12.572 Russians who are foreign citizens.
