The Kotor Committee of the Democratic Party of Socialists filed criminal charges today against members of the permanent composition of the Municipal Election Commission, Damir Rebronja and Aleksa Blagojević, due to, as they stated, "illegality in the work of that body after the local elections".
"The aforementioned members of the MEC, by illegally exploiting their official position, ignoring the decision of the State Election Commission, made it impossible to make a decision on repeating the election at the Prčanj polling station, thereby committing a criminal offense for which the Criminal Code of Montenegro provides a sanction. By doing so, they violated the constitutionally guaranteed the right of all citizens of the municipality of Kotor, which guarantees the right to local self-government," the announcement states.
They add that the former president of the Municipality of Kotor, Vladimir Jokić, is included in the criminal report.
"He, as the holder of the list that participated in the local elections, abused his position and influence in the municipality of Kotor and was a direct perpetrator of political corruption, who found as his perpetrators the persons against whom we filed a criminal complaint, all in the hope that continue to hold office, even though the citizens clearly said that they want changes. We will not judge Jokić about the false promises that we will go to the elections. Because, even though Jokić announced at the press conference, in front of the entire public, that their group will go for repeated elections, its representatives voted the opposite and - which is much more important in this story - illegally," the announcement concludes.
