The civil movement URA announced today that it stands by the fact that the holder of the list "For a better Podgorica" Luka Rakčević will be the mayor of Podgorica.
"URA firmly stands by its principles and positions expressed in the pre-election campaign, as well as by the mayoral candidate Jakov Milatović, for whom the citizens gave us their vote and trust", it is emphasized in the announcement of URA, on the occasion of how they cited numerous media inquiries in in connection with the formation of the authorities in Podgorica.
That party added that 60 percent of the citizens of Podgorica voted for changes in the capital.
"It is completely unacceptable and contrary to the will of the majority of the citizens of Podgorica that the government is formed on the exact same principles and bases as it has functioned until now, thrashing certain positions, without creating any new value. Our list offers the best program, concrete projects and deadlines for their implementation", said URE.
The party headed by former Prime Minister Dritan Abazović said that they are also ready to take responsibility for managing the city in a completely different way, which would be based on the qualitative improvement of local self-government, but also to bear responsibility if everything promised is not realized in given deadlines.
"We will not be political pawns to anyone who has a nationalist, populist or criminal agenda. We will always be proud to be in opposition to bad government at the state and local level rather than political patches and measures to subvert them," URE concludes.
URA participated in the local elections in Podgorica on September 29 in the coalition "For a better Podgorica", which also included the Movement for Podgorica, close to the President of Montenegro, Jakov Milatović, and the Movement for Change (PzP). That coalition won six mandates in those elections.
"Vijesti" announced today that the request for Rakčević to be at the head of the capital will not be included in the platform that the coalition "For a better Podgorica" is preparing for negotiations on the formation of a local government.
This was decided at last night's meeting of the constituents of that union.
Neither the Movement for Podgorica, nor the URA will, as unofficially told "Vijesta" from those entities, attend the negotiations scheduled for today (17 p.m.) on the formation of the government in Podgorica, to which they, together with representatives of the Movement Europe Now (PES) and Democratic Montenegro, invited by the holder of the list "For the future of Podgorica" Jelena Borovinić Bojović.
The leader of the coalition PES-Democrats and Minister of Energy Saša Mujović (PES), as well as the Democrats, confirmed to "Vijesta" the arrival of the meeting, which should be held at the premises of the Democratic People's Party (DNP) in Podgorica.
Mujović, after Borovinić Bojović's invitation, announced to the media that PES "remains determined in its position that only those political entities that have a constructive approach in the formation of a functional city government" can be their partners, and that the mayor, in accordance with democratic principles, should be delegated the list he headed.
