The President of Montenegro Jakov Milatović announced today that he has decided to invite the Prime Minister of Montenegro Milojko Spajić to a dialogue upon his return from Brussels.
"Montenegro is facing one of the most important challenges in its recent history, the successful overcoming of which will depend on our future and that of all future generations. On the wave of positive signals from Brussels and everything that has been done so far in the process of European integration, EU membership to The year 2028 represents an ambitious but achievable goal, and the task of all political and social actors is to give their full contribution. We have months and years ahead of us in which we will have to work even better and more dedicatedly, in order to closed all chapters within the negotiation process and fulfilled the conditions for joining the European family of states," wrote Milatović on the X social network.
He added that the results of a series of local elections show a worrying tendency of fragmentation and weakening of political subjects belonging to the civic and European center.
"In the past, I have spoken several times about the importance of gathering these subjects. Accordingly, I believe that in the coming period it is necessary to overcome the disagreements between the forces belonging to the civic center and jointly move towards the achievement of the most important foreign policy goal - Montenegro's membership in the EU by 2028. This implies a joint agreement on the key principles of state policy, which will be based on cooperation and synchronized action in the coming period - especially between the President of the State and the Prime Minister In Brussels, where I have important meetings about Montenegro's European path, I invite the Prime Minister to a dialogue," said Milatović.
He said that the gathering of the civic and European center, which will dictate the pace of social changes until Montenegro joins the EU, is an idea that is bigger than any individual or party.
"It is an opportunity, but also a responsibility, to join forces in order to continue changing Montenegro for the better, bringing it closer to European value systems in all segments of further development," concluded Milatović.
