We welcome the announcements of the President of Montenegro, Jakov Milatović, that he will contribute to the processes that will lead to the achievement of the goal set by the 44th Government of Montenegro - that our country becomes the 28th member of the European Union by 2028, announced today from the Office of the President of the Government of Montenegro Milojko Spajić .
They said this because Milatović said earlier today that he would invite Spajić to a dialogue.
"After President Milatović's initiative is formalized, Prime Minister Milojko Spajić will treat it with special attention in order to, as always, contribute to the achievement of the widest social consensus on this important issue," the Spajić cabinet's announcement states.
It is added that the fact that Milatović's announcement comes after Spajić presented the "Barometer 26" platform - which refers to the assumption of a joint obligation to complete negotiations with the EU by the end of 2026 - is particularly encouraging.
"In this context, it is extremely important that all holders of public offices act within their powers, in order to fulfill the obligations prescribed by the Constitution to give the wind behind the achievement of the common goal. Therefore, after a year of successful work of the 44th Government, constructive signals from by the President of Montenegro," the announcement reads.
Spajić's cabinet said that they believe that activities to strengthen the diplomatic-consular network with regard to the election of ambassadors, the work of the Defense and Security Council, etc. finally become what they should be - a kind of catalysts for accelerating the European integration process of Montenegro.
"Finally and most importantly, the goal is clear: Montenegro will become the 28th member of the European Union by 2028. Regardless of the outcome of the announced initiative of President Milatović, the Government of Montenegro, supported by the parliamentary majority, will remain firmly committed to this as before," he concludes. in the announcement.
