The current debt of the Municipality of Berane is around 30 million euros. This is the product of the current city administration's irresponsible treatment of public finances, which resulted in a catastrophic situation, an almost completely empty budget and multimillion-dollar unpaid debts, announced the Municipal Board of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) of Berana.
They add that the fact that three quarters of the municipal budget goes to the salaries of employees is an aggravating circumstance.
"And despite such a cumbersome city system, the people of Beran do not receive adequate service. Although the employees of the city administration and city enterprises are financed from their own pockets, the people of Beran are faced with a catastrophic state of traffic and communal infrastructure, dug-up streets, garbage everywhere, and with the smallest rainfall, the citizens do not have a regular water supply", announced the Beran DPS.
They state that "it is not surprising that projects such as the construction of an above-ground garage, a landfill with a recycling center, a bus station, a new city cemetery, a closed city market, a zoo, or the development of a city beach, remained a dead letter". The DPS points out that all of them served only as a cheap populist story to collect political points in order to stay in power as long as possible, saying that it is now crystal clear to the citizens.
"It is for this reason that the people of Beran will cast their vote for the final recovery of Beran on Sunday. We will put an end to the chaos that has plagued this city for a decade. We will never again allow our city to be humiliated, for it to be governed by a forced administration for the first time in history. that those elected by citizens to represent them cannot come to an agreement among themselves. If they really wanted good for their city and their motives were not exclusively related to personal well-being, they could easily come to an agreement," concludes the statement of DPS Berana.
