The President of the Bosniak Democratic Movement (BDP), Sead Šahman, at the invitation of the Association of Expatriates from Montenegro in Burhania - Balikesir, Republic of Turkey, attended the traditional event "Balkan Evening", which gathered hundreds of expatriates mainly from the municipalities of Burhanija, Ajvalik and Edremit, but also others. parts of that country, this party announced.
Šahman, as stated in the press release, during his speech emphasized the important role of our emigration in strengthening the relations between the two countries, saying that the area of present-day Turkey was inhabited on several occasions throughout the 20th century, mainly for economic and political reasons.
"People from today's municipalities such as Pljevlja, Kolašin, Bijelo Polje, Nikšić, Rožaje came to the region of today's Balikesir mainly after the First Balkan War, then in 1924, and then in the sixties and nineties of the last century. It was not easy for the first generations of emigrants. Here they founded their families, built successful businesses over time, established themselves in politics, science, culture, and sports and now represent an important bridge of cooperation between two modern countries. what Montenegro and Turkey are like," Šahman pointed out.
The areas inhabited today by emigrants originally from Montenegro have many similarities with the municipalities on our coast, according to the BDP announcement. It is a region of olives and olive oil, extremely developed tourism, and in it different cultures live together in harmony, which represents an exceptional potential for future cooperation and additional connections.
"Montenegro and Turkey cooperate intensively, both countries are members of the NATO alliance, and Montenegro has another important goal related to membership in the European Union," Šahman pointed out.
According to the BDP, more and more Turkish companies are showing interest in doing business in Montenegro and as such are further strengthening the economic ties between the two countries. Among those interested in investing in our country, there are expats who have built successful businesses throughout Turkey.
The association of emigrants originally from Montenegro in Burhanija is the winner of the award for diplomatic promotion of Montenegro, which is a state and very important award and this speaks volumes about the important role they play and the love they have for Montenegro, BDP added.
During his stay in the Balikesir region and the municipalities of Burhanija, Ajvalik and Edremit, and organized by the president of the Association Adil Ozuzan, Šahman met with numerous expatriates who are successful in many social fields, as well as with the presidents of the chambers of commerce of these three municipalities, which gather a very large number of businessmen who have expressed interest in investing in Montenegro.
Šahman also spoke with the governor of the Burhanija district, Ilijas Memiš, and with the president of the municipality of Ajvalik, Mesut Ergin, who is originally from Pljevlja.
