If the state government is not going to build a prison in Mojkovac, then at least provide money in the budget for 2025 for the reconstruction of the road Mojkovac - Slatina, said the secretary of the Mojkovac municipal board of the Citizens' Movement URA Ilija Stanić.
"When the Ministry of Justice announced a month ago that it questioned the construction of the prison in Mojkovac, I did not believe that after 5 years some government could just give up on a project in which money had already been invested in the preparation of project documentation. Even more worrying is the fact that the citizens of Mojkovac, and especially Prošćenje (the largest village in Montenegro by area), have been assured for years by all authorities that the prison in Mojkovac will be built, as well as the access roads to it, which would certainly improve their the current situation, because the road from Mojkovac to Slatina is in, to put it mildly, a catastrophic condition. So every time I pass that road, while I'm thinking about what new breakdown will occur on my car and hoping that one of the hundreds of wheels won't fall off hole, I wonder if it is possible for us to have a road in such a condition in the 21st century," Stanić said in a statement he delivered to the media.
He pointed out that this kind of attitude of the state authorities towards Mojkovac does not surprise him, but that he is surprised by the fact that they just give up on the already started project, thus ignoring the Strategy for the execution of criminal sanctions for the period from 2017 to 2021 and the action plan for its implementation, which the construction of a prison in the north of Montenegro is also planned.
Stanić added that the Government of Montenegro did not ask the people of Mojkov what they thought about all of this, whether it was acceptable for them to abandon the construction of something they had been waiting for for years, but that, whether they wanted to or not, they would definitely hear their voice.
The secretary of the Mojkovac committee GP URA told the state authorities, led by Prime Minister Milojko Spajić and President of the Parliament of Montenegro Andrija Mandić, that if they do not already care about the development of Mojkovac, if they do not want new jobs in the north, then also in Mojkovac and if their goal is to The people of Mojkov continue to move out of their town, to at least provide decent conditions for those who stay despite everything.
"The URA of Mojkovac will definitely give its contribution in that direction through the Parliamentary Group of URA in the Parliament of Montenegro. As already mentioned, we will propose and support all those amendments to the Budget for 2025 that will concern the development of our city, and so on. and an amendment for the reconstruction of the road Mojkovac - Slatina", concluded Stanić.
