Slovenia gave a recommendation to the members of the European Union to support Montenegro closing the four negotiation chapters soon.
Prime Minister Milojko Spajić's office announced that he was told this by the head of Slovenian diplomacy, Tanja Fajon, who is in Montenegro on the occasion of the opening of the Center for Cyber Capacities of the Western Balkans (WB3C).
Spajić thanked Slovenia for its great support to Montenegro on its European path. "We really appreciate that support and help. Montenegro looks up to Slovenia".
Tanja Fajon pointed out that Montenegro is well on its way to joining the EU, adding that it is nice to witness the current moment on that path, the Prime Minister's Office announced.
"We believe that we will take advantage of that moment. "Slovenia made a recommendation to the EU members to support Montenegro to close the four chapters soon," said the Slovenian head of diplomacy.
Spajić informed Tanja Fajon that the Government adopted the document "Barometer 26", with the aim of "unifying all structures of society around the European agenda", stating that he expects that, along with the ruling majority, the opposition will also support that document.
The interlocutors agreed that the economic connection between Slovenia and Montenegro should be strengthened, and also work on better air connectivity between the two countries.
"Montenegro has special relations with Slovenia, never better relations, but we want the economic connection to be on a higher level," said the Prime Minister.
Tanja Fajon said that Slovenian companies are interested in investing in Montenegro.
The two officials also exchanged experiences when it comes to the salary reform of employees in the public sector.
The Slovenian minister said that it was a long and difficult process for Slovenia and that they are ready, after two years of negotiations, to start implementing that reform.
"Fajon was also interested in how the implementation of the Europe Now 2 Program is progressing, and Prime Minister Spajić pointed out that, with the improvement of citizens' standards, public finances are stable, and the gray economy is reduced," the announcement reads.
